What does it all mean

Growing up in the Australian Blue Mountains west of the City of Sydney I developed a unique fascination with Eucalypts and ultimately the Australian Bush. I want to try and capture that obsession and share it with others.

From the age of 8, I lived in the heart of what is now the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. For me it was a fantastic childhood filled with mystery and adventure. Most kids rarely venture beyond their back yards. My back yard was 10's of thousands of hectares abundant with mischief and exploration opportunities.

It only took be a couple of weeks after moving to the blue mountains before I started out on my first adventure. I had never done any bush walking on my own before, however decided when asked by some visitors that I was the local expert and I could guide them to their waterfall destination (along with my push bike).

The trip in was fine, but the trip home was harrowing. The sudden realization that I was alone in a foreign place with no understanding of it could consume a naive 8 year old. It took me hours to get home, and it also cost me a pair of thongs. Not to mention the fact that my panic stricken parents had no idea where I had disappeared to in this vast new wilderness and had launched a search with the neighbors.

This was my first adventure into what would ultimately become a drug for me. That is to be completely immersed amongst the good old gum trees.
